the toughest tune i know is played on four strings by four friends
the emphasis is not on feeling but on those friends' means to their ends
pointless self-indulgence has it's way with us all but once the notes are in the ether
they can neither be recalled, nor can they be hidden, it happened and its there
at least i gained perspective from the scare
i used to take the stance that what was yours was yours to sell
it turns out i was nauseous 'cause what's yours was mine as well
of notes displaced (in) some other place i'll never have proof
my idea of authenticity is believing in the truth
so i'll never hear the tune the way i did before
at least i learned a lesson from the score
the question that remains is 'do you know the ones you know?'
your only choice is to ad-lib and let the song go where it goes
who am i to say if we don't hear in harmony?
if anyone knows about bum-notes i'm sure as hell it's me
so i'll never hear the melody the way i did before
